Abstract line drawings are the backbone of my approach to art. Although I do not usually paint on top of an underdrawing, my paintings are very much an extension of my drawings: I often use flowing and broken ribbons of colour, masses with clearly defined outlines, or patches of colour worked in between lines. Even when no distinct lines are visible, there are strong compositional axes detectable in my paintings.

These ten characteristic sketches were completed using a dip pen and ink, at a single sitting.
